Terms of service

1. What ክስተት is

ክስተት is a platform for finding events, buying tickets and booking venues. We provide the software and take the payment. We do not run the events. The organizer of an event decides what it is, when it happens, who may come and what happens on the night, and the agreement to attend is between you and them.

By using ክስተት you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. Your account

You need to be 18 or over. You sign in with your phone number, and the one-time code we send is how we know it is you — keep your phone and that code to yourself. Tell us at hello@kistet.app if you think somebody else is using your account.

One account per person. Give us true details; an account opened with somebody else's number is not yours.

3. Buying a ticket

A ticket is bought when your payment is confirmed, and it appears in the app. Your ticket carries a QR code that changes regularly and will not work twice. A screenshot of it will not get anybody in, which is deliberate — it is what stops your ticket being sold out from under you.

Prices are set by the organizer and shown before you pay, in birr or in dollars depending on where the event is. The price you see is the price you pay.

Every paid ticket is refundable in full until the event starts. The detail is on our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

4. Reselling a ticket

You may resell a ticket you can no longer use, at the price you paid and no more. The money reaches you directly when it sells. Reselling above face value is not possible on ክስተት and is grounds for us to close an account that tries to arrange it elsewhere.

Free tickets and guest-list places cannot be resold or transferred for money.

5. What we charge

ክስተት takes 12% of the ticket price. That is the entire charge to the organizer and there is nothing added to the buyer — no booking fee, no service fee, no card surcharge. Payment providers may apply their own charges to the organizer's account, which are theirs and not ours.

Money from a ticket sale is split at the moment of payment and the organizer's share goes to their own account. We do not hold it.

6. If you host events

You are responsible for the event. That means:

• Describing it truthfully — the date, the place, the age limit, what a ticket includes.
• Holding the licences and permissions the event needs, and running it safely and lawfully.
• Telling ticket holders promptly if it changes or is cancelled. A cancelled event refunds every ticket in full, and that comes out of your share.
• Handling the personal data of people attending lawfully and only for the event.

We may ask you to prove who you are before you can sell tickets, and we may hold payouts while a check is open. We can remove an event that breaks these terms or the law.

7. If you list a venue

A venue listing must describe a real room you are entitled to let. A booking is not confirmed until a hire agreement has been signed by both you and the organizer; until both signatures are in, the date is not held.

8. What you may not do

• Sell a ticket to an event that is not happening, or that you have no right to sell.
• Use somebody else's account, payment method or identity.
• Try to get in on a copied, altered or reused QR code.
• Buy tickets automatically or in bulk to resell them.
• Interfere with the service, or with other people's use of it.
• Post anything unlawful, threatening or designed to deceive.

9. Content you post

What you upload stays yours. You give us permission to show it where the product needs to — your event's photo on its page, for instance. Do not upload what you do not have the right to. We can remove content that breaks these terms.

10. When the service is unavailable

We work to keep ክስተት running but cannot promise it is never interrupted. Where we can, we will tell you in advance about planned work.

11. Responsibility

We are responsible for providing the platform and for taking your payment correctly. We are not responsible for what happens at an event, for an organizer who does not do what they said, or for a venue that is not what it was described as — though if an event does not happen, your refund is covered by our refund policy, and we will help you reach the organizer.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ethiopian law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Closing an account

You can close your account at any time, in the app or by writing to us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is being used fraudulently, or where the law requires it. Tickets already bought remain valid, and money already owed is still paid.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when the current version took effect, and we will tell you in the app before a material change applies to you. Continuing to use ክስተት after that means you accept the new version.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and the courts of Ethiopia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
